Tacking the word â€œdenierâ€ onto an issue â€” as in â€œclimate denierâ€ or â€œelection denierâ€â€” is one of the dumbest rhetorical devices in modern politics. The purpose, of course, is to insinuate that the underlying position is insidious, beyond the pale, on par with Holocaust denial. One might debate a â€œconservativeâ€ on the issues, but a â€œdenier;â€ well, thatâ€™s someone who canâ€™t be reasoned with.
